After a long time, finally Twitter has announced that it removed the 140-character limit from direct messages.
This change has been rolled out to Twitter web, Android, iOS, Mac and TweetDeck. Back in June, Twitter told that it will vanish the 140-character limit from direct messages in July, however, its implementation took some extra time.
“If you’ve checked your Direct Messages today, you may have noticed that something’s missing: the limitation of 140 characters. You can now chat on (and on) in a single Direct Message, and likely still have some characters left over”, said Sachin Agarwal, Twitter’s Product Manager
Now the character limit in direct messages is 10,000 words. However, the update will take a few weeks for its global reach. Last month, the company quietly removed the background images from all Twitter accounts which is now the only major issue regarding this social networking giant.
